Revolutionary Wind Energy:

Quiet. Beautiful. Efficient.

Clean Energy.

No Sun Needed.

At Scott Knows Solar, we have the wind turbines you've been waiting for!

What if you could take advantage of the wind with just a small land footprint?

Through our partnership with Flower Turbines, you can start generating electricity with a breeze your face can't even feel and your ears barely hear.

Got gusts? Even better!

Faster winds increase generation exponentially.

And these turbines are beautiful to look at, too.

Form, function, and efficiency all rolled into one.

The flower’s size variety (height ranges from 4 1/2 to 25 feet, width from 2 to 16 feet) makes them a great stand alone clean energy solution, and allows it to couple with solar + battery systems.

The Flower Turbine* Difference

Unlike the 3-prong towers you probably think of when you hear “wind energy,” Flower Turbines* were intentionally designed to solve the top 6 problems with conventional wind energy:

  • Ugly
  • Too Loud & Noisy
  • Bird impacts & Threats
  • Only operating at high wind speeds
  • Too close together and they fight each other
  • Which leads to leaving a lot of potential energy behind

How did they solve these problems?

Flower Turbines* made 3 very simple improvements over all other wind towers:

  1. Short towers. None taller than 50 feet, several under 10 feet.
  2. Spin horizontally instead of vertically.
  3. Turbines are visually beautiful – looking like flowers, instead of machinery.

Just by changing these 3 features:

Flower Turbines* look like things Humans and Animals are used to seeing: tall flowers.

This means customers, neighbors, engineers and everyone else sees something compact and pretty – not the typical ugly and huge 3-arm towers.

The sound volume naturally drops.

Meaning that the turbines run quieter than 3-prong towers.

“These turbines are literally quieter than the wind.”

Birds are familiar with flying over or around flowers.

That these flowers spin makes them even more obvious to the birds and gives them additional reason to stay away.

By being shorter, lighter, and more equally balanced than 3-prong towers, Flower Turbines* become easier to spin.

This means they can start at slower speeds than conventional towers – potentially as low as 1.6 mph, and generating electricity as low as 2.0 mph. (That’s before your face even feels a breeze.) They have also been tested in wind speeds up to 120 mph. That’s the middle of the 111 – 129 mph Category 3 Hurricane rating. If winds are higher than that, the right inverter can stop the turbines to avoid it being damaged.

This low starting speed allows Flower Turbines* to capture a lot of the potential wind energy the big ones just can’t grab.

Areas previously considered “bad for wind” are now more likely to be able to use this natural resource to save money, avoid emissions, and keep the lights on.

Flower Turbines work better together.

When placed properly together, individual Flower Turbines can produce up to 225% more electricity than when located individually or far apart.  This is a major benefit of Flower Turbines, which is known as the Bouquet Effect, as it requires fewer turbines to create the same amount of electricity.

You are familiar with this phenomenon in other parts of life:

Does bringing one flower or a dozen set a better tone on a first date?   Is it 12-times stronger to bring 12 flowers, or is it greater than that?

Why Wind Energy?

Wind energy has been here since the beginning – longer than the dinosaurs even.

It is the natural result of changing pressures as the planet spins.

That it comes from Earth’s natural process means it's available during many weather and light conditions.

Think about it.

What happens right before, during and after a thunderstorm?

The wind blows through.

Right?

Can Wind + Solar Work Together?

YES!

In fact, wind + solar can be a great complimentary setup.

The wind is generally stronger during the shorter days of winter, as well as before, during and after weather events.

Wind and solar can generate extra energy together and can also cover each other when one is not available.

However, it must be planned as one system. There is currently only 1 brand of inverter accepting energy from both sun and wind. Many of the existing solar installations you have seen do not use this inverter. At Scott Knows Solar, we take care to ensure you get that inverter (if available) as part of our wind process.

How Does The Wind Process Work?

Scott Knows Solar starts by discussing your intentions, goals, location, and timeline for adding Wind Energy to your property. One of the most important questions we ask is which part of your property you believe to be the windiest area.

If you are looking to add the wind turbine energy to the grid, we will ask you for an electric bill so we can get the system sizing right.

If you are looking for an off-grid system, we will talk about the equipment you want the wind turbines to power and their power requirements. This is how we get your system size correct.

Once we know how much energy you need, we will start choosing the best fitting Flower Turbine* sized equipment and identify the windiest areas of your land.

After we have reviewed your electric bill, talked about intentions, locations, and timeline and covered expected energy demands with what the property can supply – then we will present a proposal for what the job would entail. This proposal will include selected Flower Turbines*, location, cost, incentives and payback periods.
